Upcoming Workshop

Patchwork Landscape Workshop | Rebecca Owen
Saturday 14 November & Sunday 15 November,
10:00am–4:00pm both days
Celebrate Open Studios Kaipātiki with this fun beginner-friendly workshop. Slow down, get creative, and see your local landscape through a new lens - one piece of fabric at a time! Using fabrics to design and hand-stitch a small fabric patchwork inspired by your local landscape. Learn easy techniques for layering, securing, and embellishing fabric while experimenting with colour and shape.
Whether you’re completely new to sewing or already love working with textiles, this is an opportunity to experiment, discover, and enjoy the pleasure of making something by hand.
Already working on a textile project? Bring it along! There’ll be space to sit, stitch, share ideas, and chat in the workshop area. You’re also welcome to bring your own sewing kit and extra threads if you’d like to continue your project at home.
We'll provide everything you need to get started, including fabric (kindly donated by Thread Lightly), needles, thread, and plenty of inspiration. You’re welcome to stay for a short visit or settle in for longer, and you can attend on either day or both.
Come and enjoy a little creative time, connect with others, and leave with a handmade artwork that is uniquely yours.
Please note: The workshop is for ages 10+, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
